Magic, joy, humour and play. ‘Squidgy World’ takes concepts of tactility and transforms Turf Projects into a space for resting, playing, and being. Take a break from the day-to-day and explore the unexpected in the shopping centre. Pick up and handle the artworks; engage with objects and ideas virtually and physically. Contrary to the typical gallery experience, in ‘Squidgy World’ we invite you to both look and touch.

Our commissioned artists and collectives have been hosting workshops and producing new works to research and question collaboration, comfort and connection. How can creative making bring people with different experiences of the world together? How can we engage with different senses and feelings through art? How can we share the space, considering different methods of work, play, and relaxation? What are the hierarchies of play, and when & how  can we break them?

‘Squidgy World’ will be open to the public from 10th May – 5th August 2023.

A full tour of each location built as part of the ‘Pillow Palace’ workshops led and facilitated by Bea and Jill Finch and displayed as part of the exhibition.
