Miguel is originally from Valencia, in Eastern Spain, but has been based in the UK since 1998 and now lives in Croydon, S London. Miguel became an artist after finishing his PhD in Theoretical Physics at Sussex University in 2013. He then completed a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Brighton City College and a 2-year portraiture diploma at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, where he learnt about traditional oil painting and the human figure.
Currently, Miguel combines his ongoing interest in figuration with a developing abstract language in which he considers themes such as the nature of memory, emotion, and the passage of time through a rigorous process of formal exploration.
