Artist Feedback Session: Led by Miguel Sopena

Monthly free workshop to share your creative work in a supportive environment.

Taking place at the end of each month, our free feedback sessions are a chance to get feedback on your work from a practicing artist in a supportive and friendly environment. All kinds of creative work are welcome.

December’s feedback session will be led by artist and Turf studio member Miguel Sopena.

This workshop is open to all but booking is essential, as spaces are limited. There are five slots available for showing work, but all are welcome to join in the discussion. For those showing work, please send through images or links you would like to share to: holly@turf-projects.com by Friday 3 December 2021.

If you have any access needs that you would like to discuss with us in advance of the session, please get in touch: holly@turf-projects.com

How do our tickets work?

For our workshops & events we offer the majority of tickets free and then offer donations-based tickets after that. Free tickets go fast! We’d encourage you to book a donations-based ticket if you’re able to, to leave as many free tickets as possible available for those who could most benefit from them. Donations tickets can be as little as £1. You can join the session in-person or remotely – just let us know how you will attend when you sign up.

About Miguel Sopena:

Miguel Sopena is an artist and photographer based in Croydon. Miguel trained as a figurative painter but his practice is very diverse and at present it encompasses abstraction as well as figuration. In his abstract practice, Miguel is very interested in the material properties of the painting medium and often works in heavy oil impasto, exploring themes such as memory, emotion, and the passage of time.

Miguel has been a studio holder at Turf Projects since 2017.

WORKSHOP CODE:

Turf aims to be a space where all are welcomed & respected. We ask all attendees to align with this spirit when booking and support us in creating a welcoming & collaborative atmosphere together. We ask that everyone is;

  • Kind and respectful in our language and behaviour towards others. Turf is a space which is anti racism, sexism, homophobia and ableism.
  • Considerate of others’ time; allowing others room to speak & engage.
  • Respectful of the space itself as belonging to many people, treating the space & objects with care.
  • Attend wherever possible: In 2023, around 30% of people booking free tickets didn’t turn up! Our free tickets are limited and in high demand. Every person who doesn’t turn up means someone else can’t attend, so please let us know if you can’t make it to free up a space. If you don’t attend twice or more without letting us know, you may be restricted from booking again.
