Sat 23 July, 12-2pm // At Turf Gallery // Free & refreshments provided
Taking place every last Saturday of the month, our lunchtime crits give artists a chance to get feedback on their work from a practicing artist in a supportive and friendly environment.
Simply submit or bring along your work, and we’ll take turns to discuss it and give feedback for each participant.
Participation isn’t mandatory – you’re welcome to simply come and view the works and take part in the discussions. If you’d like to participate in showing your artwork, it’s ideal to send imagery of or a link to the work you wish to show in the crit in advance so we can get it up on our projector! Email us here to submit along with any requirements for AV equipment and/or install instructions.
July’s crit will be led by artist Jess Bryant. B. 1986, Norwich. Currently studying Fine Art Media MFA at Slade School of Art, UCL. Previously studied BA Fine Art (Painting) at Wimbledon College of Art, UAL.
“Oversaturated with digital communication, massconstructed identities, sexual oppression and violence, in systems of mass control we struggle to keep hold of our sanity. The overarching hierarchies seem to provide a sense of comfort through thier passivity, but really they are telling us ‘your dirty’, ‘clean yourselves’, be like us, ‘we are clean, pure, normal,,,, this is right, your wrong’, ‘clean yourselves you dirty creatures’. We fight for our voices to be heard amongst the jungle of mass miscommunication but in the end the pure one always swallows us whole.”
// FEEDBACK FROM PAST PARTICIPANTS:
“I found it helpful and useful to meet with other Artists from around London whose work I wasn’t previously familiar with. Turf Projects seems to attract a really interesting mix of practitioners across a variety of disciplines, who are open to discussion, debate and the exchange of knowledge and experience”
