As the usage of 3D in the modern digital art pipeline becomes more prevalent, it’s becoming increasingly useful to have these skills in your repertoire.
The first of a series of 3 classes led by illustrator and animator Marco Riosa, this initial 3 hour beginners class will provide an introduction to using Blender, an increasingly popular free & open-source 3D modelling software.
By the end of the session, attendees will learn the essentials of creating simple objects in Blender, culminating in a 3D chair model with a basic texture applied to it.
Although the class will have a clear direction and outcome, the class is designed to give you the tools necessary to be able to confidently create simple models of any kind in Blender – rather than learn a very specific way of working.
Please bring:
- A laptop with a 3 button mouse is essential as the session will revolve around using the mouse. (To note, you don’t require a high powered PC to use Blender – see requirements here: https://www.blender.org/download/requirements/)
- Some computer literacy also required – terms such as “hold SHIFT and press D” or “press G and then follow up with X to move along the X axis” will be used throughout.
Turf Projects’ paid workshops are run by Turf studio members to support their practice. 70% of income goes to the lead artists, and 30% directly back into supporting Turf’s programme.
