CALL OUT: Croydon School of Creative Arts x Jamie Reid Archive Residency

Application deadline; 10th July 2024

Celebrating South London subcultures and coinciding with our current exhibition Eye Level, we’re excited to launch our new artist residency in collaboration with the Jamie Reid Archive. Home to iconic punk and political activist work by visual artist Jamie Reid, if you are an alumni or current student of Croydon School of Creative Art, we want to hear from you!

The residency will take place from July-September 2024 and invite creative responses to Jamie Reid’s work, and includes free desk/studio space here at Turf Projects, access to onsite facilities, curatorial support and mentoring for the duration of the residency.

Jaime Reid was a multidisciplinary artist, producing work rooted in political activism, punk and post-punk culture. The Jamie Reid Archive spans across his early political magazine Suburban Press to work produced for and in collaboration with the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys and Afro Celt Sound System, alongside protest work for the Anti Poll Tax Alliance and Pussy Riot.

The selected artist will be provided with:

  • A free desk/studio space for the artist here at Turf for 2 months from mid July to mid September
  • An Artists Fee and Production Budget for development of work
  • Travel expenses to view material and access the archive
  • Mentoring and curatorial support during the project
  • The opportunity to showcase work created in response to the archive in Turf’s Window Box space.
