Stéphane Lambion

Stéphane Lambion (b. 1997) works at the intersection of textual and graphic elements. Stemming from poetry, his art practice is twofold. One part is rooted in a long-lasting interest in typography and writing as a visual practice and consists of drawings and paintings using the plastic value of letters and words to create new shapes, interrogating the frontier between looking and reading. The other part of his production interweaves textual and visual material in a research-based mixed-media body of work using archive and personal documentation in order to explore the themes of identity, memory, nostalgia and loss, often through the lens of the body and the inhabited space. He is interested in loops and cycles, networks of signs, webs of underlying connections and coincidences between things. Currently, Stéphane is finishing a practice-based PhD about the representation of illness, after graduating in 2021 from the Arts department of the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.
