Tru Luv will challenge the value of love in contemporary art and discuss the ethical questions raised by displaying the intimate. The works in the exhibition have each been fuelled by love, whether that be affectionate, familial, religious or romantic love. Although not necessarily conspicuous, this undercurrent is unashamedly present. This expression of love may come via fear, neurosis or longing – the results often appearing guttural rather than saccharine.

Tru Luv extends to a commissioned exhibition text ‘Who Cares?’ by Alex Brenchley. Turf has produced a series of limited edition silkscreen prints and the publication ‘In Close Up’ by John Messenbird to coincide with the exhibition. These are available to purchase, with all profits going towards Turf’s future programme.

The exhibition will include a programme of educational events, workshops & talks including a reading group, family fun day, tour and conversation. For more information on these please enquire at the gallery or contact us.

Turf Projects would like to thank Mayor of London, Arts Council England & Centrale Shopping Centre Croydon for their kind support, and Jim Stephenson for photography.
