GROUNDWERK 5.5: Communication Through Movement – Rosalie Bell

THU 19 SEP 6:30-8pm // FREE & OPEN TO ALL

BOOK >

Drawing upon techniques within dance, this workshop will consider ways of using movement and the body to communicate. Through improvisation and experimental ideas, we will learn from each other and explore the feeling of creating a space together that resembles ‘home’. We will consider ideas of play, touch and re-connecting on a human level. This workshop is for anyone who enjoys being, moving, dancing (whatever that may mean to you) and letting yourself go. Please come with an open mind and in comfortable clothes to move in. All welcome!

Groundwerk is a monthly series of free practical workshops for artists and creatives wishing to gain the skills to support their practice.

This workshop is free to attend and open to all but booking is recommended, as spaces are limited.

// ABOUT ROSALIE BELL

Rosalie is a freelance contemporary dance artist based in London, who graduated from London Studio Centre in 2015.

Her main body of work consists of a rich variety of experimental and interdisciplinary collaborations where she feels most at home. Recent work includes dancing in visual artist Hannah Perry’s live instillation for her GUSH exhibition at Somerset House. Rosalie has also worked with choreographer Darcy Wallace for her ongoing work PUBLIC BODY (the ballet); exploring the female, contemporary body claiming space in the traditional ballet world.

In 2017, Rosalie was a participant in the three month performance art programme SMASH Berlin, where she collaborated with artists from all over the world exploring sound, texture, space and vivid imagery. She continues to explore and delve into new possibilities via her own practice.

Turf aims to be a space where all are welcomed & respected. We ask all attendees to align with this spirit when booking and support us in creating a welcoming & collaborative atmosphere together. We ask that everyone is;

  • Kind and respectful in our language and behaviour towards others. Turf is a space which is anti racism, sexism, homophobia and ableism.
  • Considerate of others’ time; allowing others room to speak & engage.
  • Respectful of the space itself as belonging to many people, treating the space & objects with care.
  • Attend wherever possible: In 2023, around 30% of people booking free tickets didn’t turn up! Our free tickets are limited and in high demand. Every person who doesn’t turn up means someone else can’t attend, so please let us know if you can’t make it to free up a space. If you don’t attend twice or more without letting us know, you may be restricted from booking again.
