GROUNDWERK 7.5 [ONLINE RESOURCE]: ARTIST SELF-PUBLISHING

Download the pdf resource here.

When making books how can decisions about different types of printing, paper, formats and binding inform the way content is read and experienced? How will you reach an audience and connect with readers?

A short video takes the print-on-demand activity at The Bower / Publication Studio as a starting point to explore a collection of artists’ books. The accompanying resource – developed by artist, bookseller and publisher Louisa Bailey in collaboration with Design Print Bind – sets out some considerations for design, production and distribution, alongside a series of prompts for use in your own self-publishing projects. The resource looks at the collaborative nature of artists’ publishing, the uses of digital and physical circulation and the role of an active community in creating a public.

Groundwerk is a monthly series of free practical workshops and resources for artists and creatives wishing to gain the skills to support their practice.
