We all like to dream about how Croydon would be if we were in charge, but what would happen if we actually were?
Local architect-designer-dreamers Resolve Collective invite us to present our own visions for Croydon Town Centre. We can be as fanciful as we like, but with a catch; we’re also accountable for those decisions.
RESOLVE will lead design exercises to lead us through the process of translating our big visions into reality; What might be the impact on one another? What if our ideas clash? Will they stand the test of time?
The workshop will be followed by a final workshop testing out and challengings the ideas put forward by We Made That & Croydon Council.
This event is part of a series of work by local arts charity Turf Projects, involving the community in the creation of a new strategy for the town centre alongside lead organisation We Made That and Croydon Council in partnership with the GLA [wording to be confirmed with LBC]. The work is taking place from November until Spring 2024.
ABOUT RESOLVE COLLECTIVE
RESOLVE is an interdisciplinary design collective rooted in Croydon, that combines architecture, engineering, technology and art to address social challenges. They have delivered numerous projects, workshops, publications, and talks in the UK and across Europe, all of which look toward realising just and equitable visions of change in our built environment.
Much of our work aims to provide platforms for the production of new knowledge and ideas, whilst collaborating and organising to help build resilience in our communities. An integral part of this way of working means designing with and for young people and under-represented groups in society.

Turf aims to be a space where all are welcomed & respected. We ask all attendees to align with this spirit when booking and support us in creating a welcoming & collaborative atmosphere together. We ask that everyone is;
- Kind and respectful in our language and behaviour towards others. Turf is a space which is anti racism, sexism, homophobia and ableism.
- Considerate of others’ time; allowing others room to speak & engage.
- Respectful of the space itself as belonging to many people, treating the space & objects with care.
- Attend wherever possible: In 2023, around 30% of people booking free tickets didn’t turn up! Our free tickets are limited and in high demand. Every person who doesn’t turn up means someone else can’t attend, so please let us know if you can’t make it to free up a space. If you don’t attend twice or more without letting us know, you may be restricted from booking again.
