Container News
Are you age 14-21?
Interested in design, art and food?
Want to work with artists and designers to turn your ideas into reality?
Container News is a new zine (self-published magazine) all about food, art and design, created by young people working with Turf Projects, an artist-run gallery in Croydon.
There are places for 20 young people from Croydon to work with artists, designers and food producers to design and create their own content that will be published in print and online.
There’ll be 3D printing, photography, writing and cooking workshops, and we’ll be making and eating lunch with BOXPARK, CrOyster Mushrooms, and other Croydon food producers.
You’ll get involved with 3 practical workshops (one each month in September, October & November, plus a launch party in December) where we’ll design the magazine, take photos, write recipes, reviews and instructions, and make food.
To get the most from this project, you should come along to all of the session dates below. If you can’t attend all of these dates, please still get in touch.
Sat 16 Sept 12-4pm // Left Overs, Waste Products and DIY with artist Holly Graham
Sat 14 Oct 12-4pm // Food Carving, 3D Design and Printing with designer Bryan Oknyansky
Sat 18 Nov 12-4pm // Rainbow Chapatis and Dough Text with artist Jasleen Kaur
Sat 8 Dec 12-4pm // Zine Launch Party
Workshops will be held at Turf Projects (1046-1048 Whitgift Centre, Ground Level, Trinity Court, Croydon CR0 1UQ), and we’ll also get out to visit sites around Croydon, including Croydon Reuse Organisation (1 Church Rd, Croydon CR0 1SG), and Boxpark (99 George St, London CR0 1LD).
If you’d like to get involved, you just need to send an email to sophie@turf-projects.com with:
• Your name
• Your age
• How you heard about the project
We’ll then send over a link to a quick registration form you’ll need to to fill out, and if there are still spots available we’ll confirm your space.
If you’re under 18, you’ll need to get signed permission from your parent of guardian to take part. If you don’t have a copy of our permission form, just email sophie@turf-projects.com and we’ll send one your way.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Sophie and the Turf Projects team.
