ARTIST FEEDBACK SESSION // Led by Zadie Xa

// THU 28 JAN 2021, 5.30-7.30PM

// FREE & OPEN TO ALL

// ONLINE EVENT

BOOK >

Taking place at the end of each month, our free feedback sessions are a chance to get feedback on your work from a practicing artist in a supportive and friendly environment. All kinds of creative work are welcome.

This feedback session will be led by artist Zadie Xa.

For this online session, we will be using video calling platform Zoom. It is possible to take part with or without setting up an account, and we will send instructions for joining ahead of the day.

This workshop is free to attend and open to all but booking is recommended, as spaces are limited. There are five slots available for showing work, but all are welcome to join in the discussion. For those showing work, please send through images or links you would like to share to: holly@turf-projects.com by Wednesday 27 January 2021.

ABOUT ZADIE XA //

Zadie Xa was born and raised in Vancouver on unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh territory, and is now based in London, UK. Her work is informed by her experiences within the Korean diaspora, as well as the environmental and cultural context of the Pacific Northwest. Her work often features garments, including cloaks and masks, used for live performance and within installation or moving image.  Throughout her practice, Xa uses water and marine ecologies as metaphors for exploring the unknown, whilst also alluding to abstract notions of homeland.

Xa’s practice is highly collaborative, and she has developed ongoing exchanges with dancers, musicians and actors. Since 2006, Xa has worked closely with artist Benito Mayor Vallejo.  Together they have staged live performance, moving image, installations and painting.

Zadie earned an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in 2014 and a BFA at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2007.
