Cherilyn Yeates is a Croydon based resin and mixed media artist. Inspired by the visual relationships between the natural world and the makeup of our own bodies she creates rich visual landscapes of the worlds within worlds that we inhabit.
She explores the similarities in all things; from the structure of a coral reef on the sea floor and the intricate patterns of our own brain, to how the veins in your arm compare with an aerial shot of rivers branching through forests. Her paintings look at those visual relationships and suggest it’s more than a coincidence that these organic forms are built from a universal blueprint. The combination of these links tends to create other worlds in themselves.
After graduating from Imaging & Promotion at the University of Creative Arts, she is currently practicing as an artist and working as a development officer for a youth arts organisation in Croydon, developing new visual arts projects for young people.
