Turf are looking for trustees
Turf Projects are looking for new trustees to join our board!
We’re looking for trustees who have an interest in contemporary art practice, and knowledge or expertise in the following areas:
About us and our board
Turf Projects was founded by a group of creatives with personal connections to the borough, and many of its board members share this collective interest and background. The current board boasts a wide range of skills across the arts, tech and placemaking sectors, and the trustees are embedded in Croydon, including in local networks like the BME forum, Croydon Tech City, and local press. It is this shared passion between Turf and its board that played a pivotal role in constituting Turf Projects as a charity in 2015, and which contributes to Turf’s growing presence in the borough.
Only 4 years young, Turf continues to grow in outreach and ambitions. We recently secured 2 years funding from the People’s Health Trust to support our ongoing work with MOSS (Makers of Stuff Squad) – a group of artists with learning disabilities who attend regular workshops with Turf to develop their artistic and collaborative art practices.
2017/18 sees an exciting time in Turf’s development with the charity having recently secured a four-storey meanwhile use space within the Whitgift Shopping Centre in partnership with Croydon Council. The new space will allow Turf to expand their studio membership, education, workshop, exhibition and events programmes.
About being a trustee
At such a pivotal time we’re seeking to expand our Board of Trustees and appoint trusted individuals to advise and support Turf’s growth, management, and long-term sustainability.
As a trustee of Turf Projects you would be expected to:
Attend quarterly Board Meetings, supporting the organisation with your knowledge and experience, and delivering on strategic points as agreed by the Board at each meeting
Be an advocate for Turf: actively seeking opportunities for the charity to grow and develop
Think creatively and bring a critical voice to discussions, advising and encouraging new relationships and ways of working.
Our Current Trustees are:
Aoife Flynn (Chair) // Jacinta Bridge // Nigel Dias // Andrew Dickinson // Clair Donnelly // John Lawlor (Treasurer) // Holly Lewis // Harriet Warden
